INSIEME

European energy data space

Project INSIEME unfolds as a collaborative European journey towards transforming how energy data is shared, accessed, and used across the continent. At its heart lies the ambition to build a Common European Energy Data Space—an interconnected, secure, and interoperable digital infrastructure that brings together national and regional energy platforms under a unified framework.

The project began in April 2025 and will run for three years, gathering more than 50 partners from over 16 EU countries. These include research institutions, energy system operators, technology providers, and policy experts, all working together to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: enabling the clean energy transition through better data governance and innovation.

INSIEME is not just about technology—it’s about people and systems working together. It aims to empower consumers, communities, and businesses by making energy data more accessible and usable. Through real-world use cases like energy efficiency, grid flexibility, and electromobility, the project demonstrates how data can drive smarter decisions and more sustainable practices.

The architecture of INSIEME is federated, meaning it respects the diversity of local systems while ensuring they can communicate and collaborate. It integrates cutting-edge technologies like AI, edge computing, and digital twins, all while maintaining strong cybersecurity and data sovereignty principles.

RISE is deeply involved in project INSIEME, participating in several tasks and leading Task 4.5: Electromobility: residential charging and EV charging infrastructure, for both heavy-duty vehicles and cars. Together with partners in Sweden and across Europe, the task will provide a new dataspace federation that facilitates consent and trust management across the EV value chain.
