Cybersecurity engineering road vehicles - ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE R155/R156 and related standards

Full day course on the international standard ISO/SAE 21434 and its application. We also go through its relation to UNECE R155/R156 and related standards. The course is designed for those who work with E/E systems in the automotive area.

About the course

The ISO/SAE 21434 standard is used to ensure cybersecurity requirements for electrical/electronic (E/E) systems intended to implement cybersecurity-related functionality in road vehicles. The course explains at a detailed level the requirements of ISO/SAE 21434 - both overall requirements and requirements linked to the different parts of the product development life cycle.

As a participant, you get a basic understanding of the standard, its application and relation to regulatory requirements (UNECE R155/R156) and other related standards (e.g. ISO 24089 and ISO/PAS 5112). We also go through examples of continuous activities such as vulnerability and risk analyses as well as lifecycle specific activities such as requirements definition, testing and static code analysis.

Purpose

The aim of the course is to provide participants with a detailed understanding of the requirements of ISO/SAE 21434 and its application.

Target audience

The course is suitable for both managers, project leaders and engineers involved in the development of cybersecure automotive E/E-systems.

Prerequisites

“Introduction to cybersecurity” or equivalent knowledge.

Peter Folkesson

Phd, RISE

Peter Folkesson (Phd) has over 30 years of experience in the field of reliable computer systems. At RISE he works as a researcher in this area. Peter's main research interests include the interaction between functional safety and cybersecurity as well as fault and attack injection techniques for verification and validation of functional safety and cybersecurity. He is a member of the Swedish working group SIS/TK240/AG11 focusing on standardisation of cybersecurity for the automotive industry and has been involved in the development of the ISO/SAE 21434 standard.

Pierre Kleberger

Phd, RISE

Pierre Kleberger (Phd) is a researcher in trusted transport systems at RISE. His research interests are cyber security and the interaction between functional safety and cyber security. Pierre has been working with cybersecurity in vehicles since 2009. Pierre is also a member of the Swedish working group SIS/TK240/AG11 that focuses on standardisation of cybersecurity for vehicles and has been involved in the development of the ISO/SAE 21434 standard.
