At RISE we are developing and implementing state of the art measurement and diagnostic techniques with tunable diode lasers to monitor and enhance the performance of thermochemical conversion processes. The techniques enable real-time, accurate measurements of difficult-to-quantify entities in hot and enclosed environments.

On the Swedish market, there is a requirement (STAFS 2022:1, 4§ 3) that a taximeter must be connected to an additive device manufactured on the basis of a valid STAFS 2022:2 certificate. RISE is an accredited certification body for certifying additive devices for taximeters according to STAFS 2022:2.

Regular calibration of conductivity meters ensures that electrical conductivity measurements are accurate and reliable. By comparing instrument readings with known standard solutions at specific temperatures, accurate results are ensured for all applications.

RISE offers a method to estimate moment of inertia experimentally using a tri-filar pendulum. The moment of inertia can be measured with respect to selected axes of rotation. In addition, the complete inertia tensor of the body can be estimated through a series of measurements around multiple axes of rotation.

For measuring instruments there are international recommendations, issued by OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology). RISE is appointed as an Issuing Authority for a number of these recommendations and can in that role issue OIML certificates. An OIML certificate can be used in an application for national or regional type approvals.

There is currently a transition from fossil-based materials to products based on renewable materials. This transition has led to a need to control the proportion of a material that comes from renewable sources, i.e. is biogenic. We can offer C 14 / Carbon 14 analysis of various materials such as fuels, plastics and chemicals.

Fatigue testing is carried out with a cyclic load, until breakage occurs. The purpose is to determine the fatigue life and strength of a material or component. We perform both standardized and specialized fatigue testing on materials and components, for both machinery and products for construction and infrastrucrure.

We offer accredited calibrations on most of the air flow meters on the market (including gas clocks) in a flow range from 0.5 ml / minute up to 2.4 m³ / s, at atmospheric pressure. This range corresponds to mass flows between 0.01 mg / s and 2.9 kg / s.

By simultaneous assessment of calorimetric (energy flows) and gravimetric (mass changes) measurements we can characterize the response of a material when heated or exposed to different gases.  With our 'Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer' (STA F3 Jupiter) we conduct simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and can therefore study phase transitions, decomposition, pyrolysis or oxidation. The instrument can handle large samples which is beneficial for heterogeneous materials.

We provide accredited calibration of laboratory sieves according to ISO 3310-1 (metal wire cloth sieves) and ISO 3310-2 (perforated metal plate sieves). The calibration is carried out in our accredited laboratory in Borås, Sweden.

We measure thermal conductivity (i.e. heat conduction) using the Transient Plane Source (TPS) method according to ISO 22997-2 for which we are an accredited laboratory. The TPS method can be used to measure the thermal conductivity, diffusivity  and the specific heat capacity on solids, liquids, gels and powder in temperatures between -50 °C and 600 °C. We can also measure thermal conductivity using Transient Line Source (TLS) which is a fast and simple method with a limited temperature range between 0 °C and 100 °C.

Paper surface roughness plays a crucial role for printability and visual appearance. Several types of instruments are available topography measurements of paper surfaces in different degrees of detail. The FRT MicroProf instrument has the advantage of combining high resolution with a large scanning area. Many other materials can be analyzed as well

ATOS is an optical 3D-scanning system for non-contact measurement of details for digitisation and geometry analysis. The system enables conversion of three-dimensional surfaces to point clouds and after further processing to CAD models.

ARAMIS is a non-contact optical 3D measuring system. The system analyses, computes and documents object deformations, rigid body movements and the dynamic behavior of measuring objects. This type of measurement provides deformation data over entire surfaces unlike conventional strain gauges.
