The National Laboratory of Force and Torque offers calibration of torque.

The national laboratories are responsible for maintaining the national reference standards for each measurement quantity and spreading metrological competence and traceability to industry and society at large. The national reference standards are the highest level of traceability in Sweden.

Calibration at RISE or on site at customer

We offer calibration of your torque gauges either in our laboratory at RISE or on site at your location. To know how accurately you measure with of your instruments and sensors ar, it is important that you calibrate your equipment against traceable references. We calibrate all possible torque sensors with torque from 0.1 Nm to 5000 Nm.

The calibration results are reported in a digital calibration certificate in Swedish or English which states that the calibration was performed at a national laboratory.

Normals 

Forces up to 100 kN are generated with "dead weight", which means allowing well-determined masses to be affected by the local gravitational field.

Forces from 100 kN to 1 MN are produced by mechanical exchange of deadweight force and forces up to 6 MN (pressure forces only) are generated by a hydraulic loading machine.

Standard calibration

For calibration of force transducers and dynamometers not having the same high accuracy requirements, we can use a type of load rig (material testing machine) with the associated reference sensor instead of our dead weight machine. However, the reference sensors are always traceable to our dead weight machine.

The results of our measurements are always documented in reports, with stated traceability and measurement uncertainty. We are also always pleased to assist with advice in the areas of calibration, traceability and quality systems.

We perform accredited calibration of differential pressure sensors and manometers in a range of ±20 kPa.

There are several reasons to regularly calibrate your measuring instruments, with one being to increase the accuracy of the measurements taken. In addition, some applications require that the measuring instruments used are calibrated in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025.

We at RISE strive to help you as a customer get the most out of your measuring instruments.

The instrument is connected to our reference and the system is pressurized with compressed air. Results are read directly on the unit or via an output signal and compared with our reference. The calibration is performed at several selected measuring points within the sensor's measuring range. The measuring points can be specified by the customer when ordering.

The calibration results are delivered in a digital calibration certificate accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. The certificate can be written in either English or Swedish.

A calibration of a manometer is usually performed within 1-2 weeks of arrival.

ISO/IEC 17025

The national Laboratory for electrical quantities offer calibration of inductance standards and various types of instruments, such as bridges, LCR-meters and inductive voltage dividers.

RISE's calibration at the National Laboratory for electrical quantities is available to customers who require the best possible accuracy in their calibration or have requirements which involves development of new calibration methods. Our customers are found among industry, research institutes, and calibration companies. The national reference standards at the National Laboratory have the highest level of accuracy in Sweden. The traceability to the realisation of the unit is always ensured.

Calibration at a National Laboratory meets all the typical requirements for traceability and accreditation commonly found in industry and society at large.

The calibration resources for inductance are in the range 10 pH - 100 H. The most commonly used method for calibration of inductance standards in the range 1 µH - 10 H is substitution measurements when the calibrated object is compared to a standard with known value and with the same nominal value. Such measurements are performed with an LCR meter. Calibration can be performed at frequencies up to 10 kHz. The measurement uncertainty is at best 100 µH / H at 1 kHz.

Calibration can also be carried out with an inductance measuring bridge for better measurement uncertainty. The most common measurement frequency is 1 kHz, but calibration can, in some cases, be performed at other frequencies, up to 10 kHz. The measurement uncertainty is at best 40 µH / H at 1 kHz.

Inductance bridges and LCR meters are calibrated by measuring against primary and / or secondary inductance standards. Calibration can be performed at frequencies up to 10 kHz (or in some cases higher).

Calibration of inductive voltage dividers can be performed in the range 50 Hz - 10 kHz. The measurement uncertainty is at best 1.2 · 10^-7 for in phase ratio and 3.0 · 10^-7 for quadrature error at 1 kHz.

Other types of measurements can also be performed, for example, measurements of temperature coefficients.

The measurement uncertainty given for a calibration depends, in addition to the calibration equipment’s performance, also on the calibration object’s performance (stability, temperature coefficient, voltage dependence and so on). In most cases, a preliminary estimate of the measurement uncertainty can be given from experience before the calibration.

Delivery upon agreement with customer. The results of the calibration are reported in a calibration certificate.

The Laboratory for volume and flow offers calibration of density on solid objects, portable density meters, pycnometers and areometers.

The unit density is realized by a normal in the form of a sphere, whose mass and volume are traceable to the units of mass and length, i.e. kilogram and meter. 

Density measures how tightly packed matter is
