Accredited inspection body for electricity meters

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Accredited inspection body for electricity meters Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

RISE is an accredited inspection body for household electricity meters (category 1 energy measurement systems).

Purpose/Benefit:

As an independent accredited inspection body, RISE participates in the Swedish National Cluster Sampling of Electricity Meters. We inspect electricity meters of category 1 in accordance with the national accreditation body Swedac's regulation STAFS 2022:9. Read more about the Swedish National Cluster Sampling of Electricity Meters at Energiföretagen Sverige.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

An electricity meter measures the electrical energy delivered to households by electricity suppliers via grids owned by electricity grid companies. The electricity meters are owned and operated by the electricity grid companies and, according to Swedac's regulations, they may be tested on a random basis by accredited inspection bodies. Through this, the industry ensures that the electricity meter's error stays within the desired limits. The inspection takes place by adding voltages and currents that correspond to different power levels and comparing the measured energy with added energy.

We perform our services in accordance with the ISO 17020 quality standard and are monitored by Swedac.

Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We issue accredited control reports and can assist with the reporting of results to the national cluster sampling.

Measuring circular business models

Measuring circular business models
Measuring Circular Business Models

How do we measure the cost effectiveness of circular economy? Does higher circular economy performance increase demand? How do we increase the spread of circular business models in society (via measurement)? These are the themes for the three work packages in the project.

Circular economy is claimed to be a strategic opportunity for companies to be able to maximize resource efficiency, make large cost savings and create competitive advantages. However, there are currently no widely established measures or indicators to be able to compare the circularity of a business model or product. In this project, we develop, test and evaluate indicators for circular economy at the customer offering level.

The project's approach is based on a close integration between statistical estimation methods, traditional "peer-review" via scientific journals, and close collaboration with companies and public organizations that can both contribute to and benefit from the research results. Our goal is to develop a robust, legitimate and standardizable indicator that can act as a lever in a transition to a circular economy in the manufacturing industry, both in Sweden and abroad. The indicator must also help companies to be able to identify internal opportunities and obstacles for circular change and assist external stakeholders, such as customers and investors, who want to be able to compare companies and products. Depending on the design of the measure, there are also opportunities to understand the need for changes, such as tax changes, that can support the shift towards a circular economy. What gets measured gets done!

The project runs for a total of three years and is divided into three work packages which: 1) develop and test a circularity indicator prototype; 2) examine economic and environmental opportunities associated with an increased degree of circularity in certain selected products and business models; and 3) examine the conditions for a wider spread of a circular economy via business model innovation and metrics.

SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS measurements on nanostructured materials

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS measurements on nanostructured materials Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Are you curious about the nanostructure of your material? We offer characterization on nanoscale level of materials by SAXS, WAXS and GISAXS measurements at our laboratory beamline. Depending on the material type, the material characterization involves analysis of size, shape, periodicity, porosity, orientation, crystalline structure, etc.

Purpose/Benefit:

Characterization of the nanostructure of materials provides an opportunity to understand the relationship between process, structure and material properties.

  • Do you know the relationship between nanostructure and macroscopic e g mechanical properties of your material?
  • Will your process parameters affect the nanostructure of your material?
  • Are you planning to do advanced X-ray scattering studies on a synchrotron facility? SAXSpoint 2.0 provides analysis results of materials nanostructures close to the synchrotron level.
Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

SAXS* measurements provide information on structures in the range 1 - 170 nm. The method is accurate, non-destructive and usually requires only a minimum of sample preparation. SAXSpoint 2.0 is a unique, advanced, automated SAXS / WAXS* / GISAXS* instrument from Anton Paar. In order to minimize background disturbance, the sample chamber is under vacuum, which means that the sample environment must be vacuum compatible. Glass capillaries are used for liquids, and wet samples can be mounted in sample holders with windows of Kapton film. SAXS and WAXS measurements are made on the same sample with scattering angles up to 65 °. A background measurement of air / water between the Kapton films is normally made with the same settings. The background measurement is subtracted from the sample measurements.

GISAXS is a scattering technique used to study nanostructured surfaces and thin films. The sample is mounted on a GISAXS sample holder.

SAXSpoint 2.0 instrument data:

• X-ray source: Microsource Supernova Copper, wavelength 1.541 Å

• X-ray optics and collimation: ASTIX optics and X-ray alignment

• sample holders for liquids, solids, powders and thin films

• test environment: vacuum; ambient or temperature controlled

• detector: 2 D Eiger R 1M

• Available q range: 0.037 nm-¹ to 43.9 nm-¹, 170 nm> d> 0.14 nm

• software: SAXSdrive ™ for measurement and SAXSanalysis ™ for analysis

* Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) and Grazing-Incidence Small Angle X-ray Scattering (GISAXS)

The National Laboratory of Force and Torque offers calibration of torque.

Purpose/Benefit:

The national laboratories are responsible for maintaining the national reference standards for each measurement quantity and spreading metrological competence and traceability to industry and society at large. The national reference standards are the highest level of traceability in Sweden.

A calibration performed at a national laboratory fulfils all typical traceability and accreditation requirements that commonly exist in industry and society at large.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

Calibration at RISE or on site at customer

We offer calibration of your torque gauges either in our laboratory at RISE or on site at your location. Calibration of force measuring equipment at The National Laboratory

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Calibration of force measuring equipment at The National Laboratory Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

The national Laboratory of Force and Torque offers calibration of force transducers, load cells, measuring brackets, dynamometers and crash sensors.

Normals

Forces up to 100 kN are generated with "dead weight", which means allowing well-determined masses to be affected by the local gravitational field.

Forces from 100 kN to 1 MN are produced by mechanical exchange of deadweight force and forces up to 6 MN (pressure forces only) are generated by a hydraulic loading machine.

Standard calibration

For calibration of force transducers and dynamometers not having the same high accuracy requirements, we can use a type of load rig (material testing machine) with the associated reference sensor instead of our dead weight machine. However, the reference sensors are always traceable to our dead weight machine.

Measurement Uncertainty

Measurement area                                   Best measurement uncertainty (%)

1 N – 1 MN                                                     0,01

1 MN – 6 MN (pressure)                        0,05

We can also perform calibrations on site at our customers.

Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):
