RISE approved to certify radio equipment

10 June 2024, 15:29

RISE is now a notified body for EU cybersecurity requirements in radio equipment.

EU is working hard to strengthen protection against cyber threats, and the Radio Equipment Directive is a key part of this work. The directive imposes cybersecurity requirements on companies that manufacture, import or distribute products with radio components. Examples include connected industrial electronics, wireless passage and alarm systems or remote-controlled products.

From August 2025, these products must have a certificate issued by a Notified Body, which now RISE is. This means that RISE can issue certificates for the relevant requirements in Article 3(3) and 3(4). To be certified, products must undergo, among other things, verification of encryption protocols, secure software updates and protection against unauthorized access. Ultimately, this should contribute to cybersecure products on the market and protect consumers from cyberattacks.
