During the testing, a scent test is carried out and analysed by specially trained testers working in a dedicated room.

The methods aim to determine the odours (intensity and characteristics) emitted by textile finishes in all forms of processing under conditions of normal wear and tear.

There are different types of dressings with specific properties. Dressings can be used to manage wound fluid, create an optimal wound environment and protect wounds against external influences such as bacteria and viruses.

Being able to test dressings according to EN 13726 gives the manufacturer and the procurer certainty that the dressing material has been tested in the same way and that the data are therefore comparable. This in turn can provide higher quality for the user because functional dressings can, reduce leakage, reduce the frequency of changes and thus favor wound healing.

It is important that dyed textiles maintain their intended colour and do not bleed onto other fabrics and materials through staining. When a piece of fabric come in contact with water it can cause unwanted staining. 

One of the most common sources of consumer complaints is when dyed textiles change and vary too much from the purchased product and become unacceptable to the user. A piece of fabric can have good colour fastness in one state but worse in another. It can therefore be important to test a textile’s colour fastness when exposed to water.

Poor colour fastness can be due to pretreatment, choice of dye, dyeing process, aftertreatment, and use.

The fabric is moistened with room temperature water and placed under pressure at 37°C for 4 hours together with staining-fabric of the chosen fiber type. Colour change and staining are assessed in a light box under standardized light against a gray scale.

A report in Swedish or English is provided with obtained results.

Dimethylfumarate (DMFu) is used to counteract fungus growth in clothes, shoes and other leather items. DMFu can e.g. be found in silica gel bags, but is also applied on the product both as a powder and in tablet form.

It is a fungicide and is harmful to skin and a strongly allergenic (skin sensitizer) substance.

Per and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFAS) are surfactants, stable, temperature-resistant and water- and grease-repellent substances and should not be present in products.
