Background to the price

The prize aims to mark that development in the assembly area is of great importance for the competitiveness of Swedish industry. The accelerated globalization, supported by the rapid development of information technology, creates an increasingly tight competition between companies with the same product, but in different countries or continents.

The manufacturer of a product must move its customer order point as far towards the end of the production chain as possible. This means that multiple-stage distribution systems must be avoided and the company's final assembly of customer-specified products must act directly towards the customer.

This means that companies' assembly systems and their organization, sharing techniques and processes must be developed for maximum speed, adjustability, rebuilding and quality.

The Prize

The prize consists of a specially made glass sculpture by artist Ebba von Wachenfeldt. The prize is awarded to a person or group of people who contributed to the development in the assembly area.
