Contact LeoMoore4Power brings together Europe’s leading industry, research, and innovation partners to reinvent power electronics for a more energy‑efficient future. By going beyond traditional semiconductor scaling, the project accelerates smarter, more sustainable solutions for energy, mobility, and industry.
Moore4Power is a major European R&D initiative led by Infineon, uniting 62 partners across 15 countries to develop next‑generation smart power electronics. With a budget of €91 million and a three‑year timeline, the project focuses on boosting efficiency, reliability, and sustainability while strengthening Europe’s technological leadership.
Moore4Power addresses the growing limitations of traditional semiconductor scaling by adopting a “More than Moore” approach, focusing on system‑level innovation rather than individual components. Central to this is heterogeneous integration, where different semiconductor materials such as silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) are combined with sensing, control, and communication functions. This enables highly integrated, application‑specific systems with improved efficiency, higher power density, and increased reliability. A modular chiplet‑based architecture further supports scalability and flexibility, allowing faster adaptation to diverse industrial needs.
The project targets high‑impact sectors including renewable energy, e‑mobility, and industrial systems, where power electronics play a critical role in energy conversion and sustainability. In parallel, Moore4Power transforms the development process through AI‑assisted design, digital twins, and automated workflows, significantly reducing time‑to‑market. Sustainability is embedded from the outset, with innovations such as a Digital Product Passport enabling lifecycle transparency, predictive maintenance, and improved resource efficiency. Together, these advancements position Moore4Power as a key driver of Europe’s transition toward a more competitive, resilient, and climate‑neutral economy.
