Member Research Consortium (MRC) Corrosive Properties of Polymers brings together the entire value-chain to study durability and long-term performance of polymeric materials in harsh and corrosive environments. This unique network aims to support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective use of polymers in demanding industrial applications.
As industries and society accelerate towards sustainability, new regulations, chemistries, and processes have introduced uncertainties and knowledge gaps regarding the lifetime, degradation mechanism, and failure modes of polymeric materials. Consequently, the market opportunities for polymer suppliers are reduced, as are the potential cost-reductions and performance improvements that polymers otherwise could offer to the end-users.
As a member, you gain access to a unique international network built on nearly four decades of knowledge and collaboration. Here, material producers, suppliers, engineering companies, and industrial end-users work together to solve shared challenges and advance the use of polymeric materials.
Our Vision
To provide industry-relevant research, reliable data, and scientific excellence for confident selection, design, and operation of polymeric materials in corrosive environments.
We achieve this through:
At our biannual meetings, our 11-member companies review results from ongoing research and discuss current challenges and needs. As a member, you will directly influence the direction of future projects carried out within the MRC framework and access a platform for government-funded research initiatives.
Application Areas
Our expertise extends to several different application areas such as:
With 2026 projects covering CCS applications, construction material for hydrometallurgy processes, and the development and validation of a testing rig for stress corrosion cracking (CCS) testing in various media.
