Accurate predictions of fuel savings from wind propulsion systems are a critical component in the success of many projects. As an independent 3rd party, RISE offers unbiased and precise performance predictions.
Drawing on our extensive databases and experience in wind propulsion, we can utilize our own validated input data when needed.
Each project is unique, therefore varying levels of precision are necessary. Our capabilities include a variety of tools, ranging from rapid Velocity Prediction Programs (VPP) to complex CFD, enabling us to select the most suitable method for every situation.
Predictions of the fuel saving potential of wind propulsion systems can be used for:
SEAMAN Winds studies are RISE’s way to independently assess the savin potential of wind propulsion technologies.
Our methodology includes:
Independent data: Wind propulsion technology performance data is taken from our own database. Alternatively, manufacturer values are independently reviewed by RISE.
Fair comparison: The same modelling approach is used to evaluate different wind propulsion technologies or routes.
Hull lines not required: Hull and propeller modelling based on RISE’s large database (> 8000 hull forms tested)
Validated: SEAMAN Winds has been checked against sea trial of full-scale ships with wind assisted propulsion.
Right level of complexity: SEAMAN Winds studies can be conducted at different complexity and confidence levels.
