Readiness assessment for DW certification

With new regulations, we will soon be moving from today's voluntary type approval to a statutory requirement for testing and certification of products in contact with drinking water. The Drinking Water Directive places higher demands on manufacturers, who must be sure that their products comply with current regulations.

Purpose of the service

Certification will be available from notified bodies from January 2027 at the earliest. In order to give our customers the best possible conditions for meeting new legal requirements and to facilitate a faster and smoother certification process, we now offer preliminary assessments. A preliminary assessment is expressly a preparatory technical assessment and does not constitute certification.

The purpose is to provide you with:

  • An early indication of whether materials, formulations, and documentation appear to meet the requirements of EU 2024/368
  • Identification of any deficiencies and needs for supplementation

Technical documentation that can be used as a basis for a future certification process with a notified body (NB).

Scope of the service

The service comprises the following three parts::

Part 1 – Risk classification and formulation review

  • Review of your technical documentation
  • Assessment against positive lists and identification of relevant substances
  • Preliminary risk classification according to 2024/368
  • Identification of any documentation gaps

Delivery: Report summarizing identified deficiencies and recommended actions

Part 2 – Sample collection and preparation

  • Planning and documentation of sample collection
  • Implementation of sample collection, labeling, and traceability
  • Documentation of sample preparation in accordance with the procedures required by EU 2024/368

Delivery: Report describing the implementation and traceability of sample collection.

Part 3 – Material and migration testing according to EU methods

Testing is carried out according to current methods in EU 2024/368.
