Water Management in Crisis and War (ViKK) aims to strengthen Sweden’s ability to secure water supply during prolonged and extensive crises. ViKK contributes through a combination of, among other things, technical innovations, alternative strategies, and new forms of collaboration. In the project, we will work jointly on concrete initiatives across organizational boundaries through focus areas, so-called development journeys. The project will focus on continuously creating several smaller shifts to achieve a systemic transformation.
As part of the project, stress tests will be conducted. Through these stress tests, we will simulate complex crisis scenarios in which multiple events occur simultaneously and put pressure on the water supply system. By staging such situations, both technical systems and cooperation between actors are tested, and in this way hidden vulnerabilities will be identified. ViKK will strengthen Sweden’s capacity for secure water management that functions both in normal conditions and during crises and war.
