Collaboration in phasing-out PFAS

18 February 2022, 15:25

On 10 February, Vetenskapsradion on Swedish Radio talked about POPFREE Industry and that many companies and organizations, including Umeå Universisty who was interviewed, want to be involved in creating a competence centre to increase knowledge and success in PFAS phase-out and to find good alternatives.

POPFREE Industry is a planning project funded by Vinnova, Sweden’s Innovation Agency, within the Sustainable Industry program. The project aims to put together a strong consortium with a concrete plan, that addresses identified needs from the industry, to enable a phase-out of PFAS. During the year, the companies are expected to both work internally and collaborate to advance their own phase-out work and contribute to a long-term plan for the proposed competence centre.

- I see great value in collaboration across industry boundaries because we need help each other to phase out PFAS, and more players are welcome to join the proposed competence centre, says Lisa Skedung, researcher at RISE and project manager for POPFREE Industry.
