Contact JohannaBioeconomy Arena brings together RISE infrastructure for the development, upscaling and commercialisation of new bio-based products and solutions. Through close industry collaboration, a flexible innovation environment is being built up from lab to pilot and demo scale, where development along entire value chains is possible.
Here, cutting-edge scientific expertise, state-of-the-art technology and entrepreneurs are brought together to increase the pace of change towards a bioeconomy. With the arena, we help the industry to accelerate the development of new products and solutions based on biomass. For a sustainable, competitive and resilient future.
By 2045, Sweden is to have zero net emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
In the autumn budget of 2020, the Swedish Government allocated RISE a supplement of SEK 350 million over two years to intensify work on sustainable solutions in the bioeconomy, to strengthen RISE's investment in test beds for biorefinery. It is now being realized in the construction of Bioeconomy Arena.
• Modernise and supplement test beds for biorefinery and circular economy
• Improve the conditions for commercialization of new solutions
• Contribute to business start-ups, investments and a world-class center for upscaling the bioeconomy
• Create a meeting place for researchers, entrepreneurs and companies
A major investment will take place in biotechnology, where RISE aims to become a world leader with the unique equipment that is acquired.
A new investment is made in CCU and CCS, capture and use of carbon dioxide. Thiis also includes electrochemistry, a promising future area.
Major reinforcements are taking place within the areas of chemical conversion, lignin to fuel as well as for various material applications where odor is a challenge, and chemistry and cellulose for new products.
Significant advancement in RISE’s research infrastructure within industrial wastewater management.
In addition, RISE creates a system that can imitate biorefineries by making a number of strategic investments in pre-treatment techniques and unit operations.
