AI sandbox – a closed test environment with open-source AI models

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): AI sandbox for testing with sensitive information Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Many organisations hold off on testing AI with real work when the information is sensitive. In an AI sandbox, you work with open-source AI models in a closed environment – on your own network or on servers at RISE. You choose the models with RISE and see what AI can actually do before you invest in new solutions.

Purpose/Benefit:

Many organisations are ready to put AI to work on material that could make a real difference to how they operate. That might be case files, notes, permit applications, patents or product data. But that is usually where caution sets in. Where does the information go? Who owns the model? What happens if access to it changes?

The result is that the benefits never materialise, while expectations of shorter processing times and simpler ways of working stay exactly as they were.

Sensitive information might refer to confidentiality or security classification, but it might also be a patent, a unique product, or anything else that is business-critical. An AI sandbox lets you try out AI models without any of it leaving your control, and the environment is built around what you actually need to test.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

The sandbox consists of one or more servers with substantial processing power and memory, built solely to run AI models. They look much like powerful desktop computers.

The servers sit either on your own network or at RISE, on hardware dedicated to you. The environment is closed and can be run entirely offline if needed, with no external communication at all. Nothing leaves it.

The sandbox uses open-source AI models. These are not owned by commercial providers, which means you can see how they were trained, and you are not at risk of losing access due to decisions taken somewhere else in the world. Several models can be installed simultaneously and compared during the test period.

How we get you up and running:

  1. We go through what you want to test and what information it will use.
  2. We configure the servers and install AI models tailored to your use cases.
  3. We install the environment on-site and train your staff.
  4. You run your tests, with our support throughout.
  5. We summarise what the test showed about capacity, quality and benefit.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

Throughout the period, you have a complete, closed environment to work in without having to invest in your own infrastructure. We train your team so you can use it independently, and we are on hand throughout.

Once the test is complete, you have a solid basis for decisions: the capacity your organisation needs, how different AI models compare for your particular tasks, and where the real benefits lie. From there, you can either continue in the environment or move the solution into your own operations, working with your usual IT or managed service provider.

Applied Neuroarachitecture/Neurodesign for High-Risk Environments

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Neuroscience‑informed design for high‑risk environments Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

High‑risk environments place high demands on attention, decision‑making, and emotional regulation. In these settings, even small design decisions can be critical. RISE uses neuroscience and behavioural insights to develop mission‑critical environments that strengthen cognitive function, operational resilience, and human performance under pressure.

Purpose/Benefit:

High‑risk environments, such as emergency response centres, defence facilities, justice settings, and critical infrastructure, place exceptional cognitive and emotional demands on the people who work within them. Decisions must be made quickly, often with incomplete information, and the consequences of error can be significant. Yet many of these environments are shaped by legacy systems, operational constraints, or technical priorities rather than by an understanding of how humans actually function under pressure.

When spaces amplify stress, create sensory overload, or hinder situational awareness, they can compromise both performance and safety. Over time, this affects not only operational outcomes but also the wellbeing and long‑term resilience of personnel.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE analyses and develops high‑risk environments through an integrated, evidence‑based perspective on human behavior and performance. By integrating neuroscience, behavioural insights, and environmental analysis, we help organisations understand how design influences attention, decision‑making, emotional regulation, and team coordination in high‑stakes situations. This creates a foundation for environments that support clarity, control, and sustained performance.

What we offer

  • Cognitive‑demand assessments tailored to high‑pressure tasks and operational workflows.
  • Environmental stress analysis, including sensory load, visual complexity, and spatial logic.
  • Design strategies for mission‑critical settings, such as control rooms, command centres, and secure facilities.
  • Guidance for restorative and decompression spaces that support recovery and long‑term resilience.
  • Evidence‑based recommendations that strengthen situational awareness, decision‑making, and team performance.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We assess how high‑pressure tasks interact with environmental conditions, from sensory load to spatial logic, and translate this into design guidance that strengthens situational awareness, decision‑making, and team coordination.

RISE brings a neuroscience‑based perspective that is often missing in technical or security‑driven projects, enabling organisations to design mission‑critical environments that strengthen human capability, clarity, and control under pressure.

We invite you to connect with us to examine your operational challenges and explore how evidence‑based environmental strategies can enhance clarity, performance, and safety in mission‑critical settings.

Applied Neuroarchitecture/Neurodesign for Learning Environments

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Neuroscience‑informed design principles for learning environments Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Educational environments shape how people learn, develop, and stay engaged, yet many are designed around logistics rather than how the brain processes attention, memory, and emotion. RISE applies neuroscience and behavioural insights to help create learning environments that enhance focus, curiosity, and long‑term cognitive development.

Purpose/Benefit:

Schools, universities, and learning centres carry a profound responsibility: they shape how people grow, think, and engage with the world. Yet many educational environments are still built around logistical needs rather than an understanding of how the brain learns, focuses, and recovers.

When classrooms are overstimulating, poorly zoned, or cognitively demanding in the wrong ways, they can limit students’ ability to concentrate, regulate emotions, and stay motivated. Educators, too, are affected, navigating environments that make it harder to teach, support, and inspire.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE helps educational institutions integrate neuroscience and environmental behaviour research into the design of learning spaces. By examining how sensory conditions, spatial layouts, and environmental cues influence attention, memory, and social dynamics, we provide a foundation for environments that truly support learning and development.

What we offer

  • Design principles for attention‑friendly classrooms, focusing on sensory balance, acoustics, and visual clarity.
  • Strategies for inclusive learning environments, supporting neurodiverse students and varied learning styles.
  • Assessment tools for cognitive and emotional load, identifying environmental barriers to learning.
  • Guidance for restorative and transition spaces, helping students regulate stress and maintain focus.
  • Evidence‑based recommendations that strengthen both academic performance and wellbeing.

Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We apply research on attention, memory, and emotional regulation to understand how learning environments shape engagement and motivation. These insights guide design choices that foster focus, inclusion, and curiosity.

RISE connects neuroscience with educational practice, enabling institutions to rethink traditional classroom models and create spaces that support learning, social development, and diverse cognitive needs.

The first step is a discussion to understand your educational context and identify how neuroscience‑aligned design can strengthen learning, inclusion, and student wellbeing.

Applied Neuroarchitecture/Neurodesign for Healthcare Environments

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Healthcare Environments Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Healthcare environments shape some of the most critical moments in human life, yet are often designed around operational efficiency rather than human experience. RISE applies neuroscience and behavioural insights to help design care settings that support healing, clarity, and emotional safety.

Purpose/Benefit:

Healthcare environments carry an extraordinary responsibility as they shape some of the most vulnerable moments in people’s lives. Yet many hospitals, clinics, and care facilities are still designed around operational efficiency rather than an understanding of how patients, families, and staff actually experience these spaces.

When environments are overstimulating, confusing, or emotionally taxing, they can increase stress, hinder recovery, and place additional strain on healthcare professionals. Over time, this affects patient outcomes, staff wellbeing, and the overall quality of care.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE helps healthcare organisations integrate neuroscience and environmental behaviour research into the design and development of care settings. By examining how sensory conditions, spatial logic, and environmental cues influence stress, orientation, and emotional regulation, we provide a foundation for environments that truly support healing and professional performance.

What we offer

  • Stress‑sensitive design strategies for patient rooms, waiting areas, treatment spaces, and staff environments.
  • Wayfinding and orientation analysis to reduce cognitive load and improve patient flow.
  • Sensory‑environment assessments focusing on light, acoustics, materials, and spatial clarity.
  • Tools for improving staff wellbeing, including restorative micro‑environments and cognitive‑load reduction.
  • Evidence‑based design guidance that strengthens patient experience, safety, and long‑term health outcomes.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We examine how patients, families, and staff experience care settings, from sensory load to emotional cues, and convert these insights into design strategies that strengthen healing, orientation, and professional resilience.

RISE brings a human‑centred scientific perspective to healthcare design, helping organisations create environments that reduce stress, support dignity, and improve outcomes throughout the care journey.

Applied Neuroarchitecture/Neurodesign for Residentail Environments

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Residential Environments Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Residential environments play a critical role in shaping sleep, recovery, and long-term wellbeing, yet are often driven by standards, and cost rather than human experience. RISE applies neuroscience and behavioural insights to help design homes and neighbourhoods that support rest, recovery, and long‑term wellbeing.

Purpose/Benefit:

Across cities and regions, the places where people live are increasingly recognised as foundations for mental health and everyday resilience. Yet many residential environments are shaped by technical standards, cost constraints, or aesthetic trends rather than by an understanding of how people actually experience their homes and neighbourhoods.

When living environments offer poor light, stressful sensory conditions, or limited access to restorative outdoor spaces, they can gradually erode sleep quality, emotional balance, and social connection. Over time, this affects not only individuals but the health and cohesion of entire communities.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE helps developers, architects, and municipalities bring a scientific perspective into residential planning. By combining neuroscience, environmental behaviour research, and neighbourhood‑level analysis, we reveal how design choices influence recovery, stress, mobility, and social interaction. This creates a stronger foundation for environments that support people across different life stages and needs.

What we offer

  • Neurodesign principles for restorative homes, focusing on light, materials, spatial flow, and sensory balance.
  • Neighbourhood‑level wellbeing assessments, analysing mobility structures, green spaces, and social infrastructure.
  • Design strategies for sleep, recovery, and stress reduction, grounded in neuroscience.
  • Tools for evaluating housing quality beyond traditional metrics, capturing cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions.
  • Guidance for inclusive, age‑friendly, and accessible environments that support diverse needs.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We translate research on recovery, stress, and social behaviour into design principles tailored to homes and neighbourhoods. This helps organisations identify which environmental factors most strongly influence long‑term wellbeing and everyday quality of life.

RISE bridges neuroscience with residential planning, enabling developers and municipalities to move beyond minimum standards and create living environments that actively support health, inclusion, and resilience across life stages.

We start with an exploratory dialogue to understand your residential ambitions and determine how neuroscience‑informed guidance can enhance wellbeing across homes and neighbourhoods.

Applied Neuroarchitecture/Neurodesign for Workplaces

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Workplaces Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Many workplaces are still designed for a way of working that no longer reflects today’s cognitive demands, hybrid realities, or wellbeing expectations. RISE applies neuroscience and behavioural insights to help organisations design environments that enable focus, wellbeing, and sustainable performance.

Purpose/Benefit:

Modern organisations are navigating a landscape where cognitive demands are rising, hybrid work is reshaping expectations, and employee wellbeing is directly tied to productivity. Yet many workplaces are still built on outdated assumptions about how people think, collaborate, and recover during the workday.

When environments create constant interruptions, sensory strain, or unclear spatial logic, they quietly drain energy and reduce the capacity for deep work. Over time, this leads to disengagement, higher absenteeism, and workplaces that struggle to support the very performance they are meant to enable.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE helps organisations understand these challenges through a scientific lens. By combining neuroscience, behavioural insights, and environmental analysis, we reveal how the physical workspace influences focus, stress, collaboration, and decision‑making. The result is a clearer foundation for designing environments that genuinely support people and the organisation as a whole.

What we offer

  • Cognitive‑load mapping to identify friction points that undermine focus and energy.
  • Environmental stress audits using behavioural data, sensory analysis, and mobile eye‑tracking.
  • Design guidelines for high‑performance work environments, covering zoning, acoustics, lighting, and restorative micro‑spaces.
  • Evidence‑based strategies to reduce absenteeism and strengthen engagement through healthier spatial conditions.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We study the everyday dynamics of work, focus patterns, collaboration flows, sensory demands, to understand how the environment supports or hinders performance. The findings become practical tools that help organisations target improvements where they will have the strongest effect.

RISE applies a cognitive‑science‑driven approach to workplace transformation. By grounding decisions in evidence about attention, energy, and emotional load, we help organisations design environments that support clarity, wellbeing, and sustainable performance.

We invite you to discuss your current workplace challenges so we can pinpoint where scientific evidence can support clearer thinking, healthier teams, and more effective organisational environments.

Applied Neuroarchitecture/Neurodesign for Urban Environments & Public Spaces

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Urban Environments & Public Spaces Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

Many cities face challenges in designing public spaces that truly feel safe, inclusive and supportive of everyday wellbeing. RISE combines neuroscience, behavioural insights and citizen experience to help municipalities and developers create streets, parks, and public areas that strengthen safety, inclusion, and social cohesion.

Purpose/Benefit:

Cities today face increasing pressure to create public spaces that feel safe, welcoming, and supportive of everyday wellbeing. Municipalities, planners, and developers are navigating rising concerns around mental health, social fragmentation, and equitable access and yet often lack evidence‑based tools to understand how people actually experience the environments around them.

Public spaces that are overstimulating, poorly organised, or socially disconnected can quietly undermine trust and belonging. If these challenges remain unaddressed, cities risk environments that feel unsafe, inaccessible or unable to support the diverse needs of their communities. RISE helps organisations close this gap.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

We bring together neuroscience, behavioural insights, and citizen experience to reveal how streetscapes, parks, and mobility hubs influence stress, social interaction, and everyday recovery. Our approach turns complex human needs into clear, actionable design criteria that strengthen both wellbeing and social cohesion.

What we offer

  • Neuroinclusive design frameworks for streetscapes, parks, and mobility hubs.
  • Safety‑perception analysis using behavioural insights and sensory mapping.
  • Tools for evaluating social cohesion, including how design shapes trust, belonging, and micro‑interactions.
  • Guidance for climate‑resilient, human‑centred public spaces that reduce stress and support everyday recovery.
Delivery (what does the client get after performed service – e.g. a report, certificate etc.):

We analyse how people move, orient, and interact in public settings through spatial diagnostics, sensory mapping, and on‑site behavioural observations. These insights are transformed into clear visualisations and strategic guidance that help cities make confident, human‑centred design decisions.

RISE brings a human‑science lens to urban development, showing how public environments shape trust, safety, and everyday social behaviour. This insight is especially powerful early in the planning process, when design decisions set the foundation for long‑term community wellbeing.

We offer an initial conversation to explore your urban development goals and identify where neuroscience‑based insights can strengthen the design and planning of public environments.

Risk Analysis Concerning EMC in Building Permit for Energy Infrastructure

Name of service (page headline, shown in promos – maximum of 70 characters incl. spaces): Risk Analysis for EMC in Building Permit for Energy Infrastructure Lead (include SEO-words and the main benefits for your target groups. Stick to one paragraph, maximum 2-3 sentences):

When establishing large-scale solar power installations and battery storage systems, we need to ensure that electromagnetic disturbances do not affect nearby buildings or installations. RISE offers feasibility studies and risk analyses concerning electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) required for building permit for such energy infrastructure.

Purpose/Benefit:

Solar power installations and battery storage systems are becoming an increasingly important part of Sweden’s energy infrastructure. At the same time, there are requirements in place to ensure that these facilities operate without causing electromagnetic interference to their surroundings. Risk analyses are therefore required as part of the building permit process for these types of installations.

Applicable limits may vary depending on the characteristics of the surrounding environment. For example, near airports there are specific protection zones that may extend several kilometers beyond the airport’s physical boundaries, where particularly strict requirements apply. Military facilities may also impose specific requirements. It is therefore important to assess EMC requirements already during the design phase.

Method (what/which methods are used to perform the service):

RISE offers both EMC risk analyses for building permit applications and feasibility studies during the design phase of installations.
