Re-strategies for increased resilience and competitiveness
Give your products, components and materials a longer life, with full control over safety and performance. Whether it is a window in a construction project or an industrial component for the aftermarket, RISE supports you all the way, from identifying the business opportunity to testing and verifying the solution on a scientific basis.
Why it matters now
Every product you discard prematurely means lost value and unnecessary carbon emissions. As geopolitical uncertainty disrupts supply chains, reuse, repurposing and remanufacturing become a matter of resilience, security of supply and competitiveness.
At the same time, the EU is tightening its requirements. In 2024, only 12.2 per cent of the materials used in the EU came from recycled materials, and the goal is to double this share by 2030. The EU is therefore developing a new Circular Economy Act, which aims to create a single market for secondary raw materials. In the automotive industry, the requirements have already been decided: under the new End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation, at least 15 per cent of the plastic in new vehicles must be recycled within six years, rising to 25 per cent within ten years.
Why RISE
- One partner instead of many. We combine expertise in regulations, business models and life cycle assessment with materials science, digitalisation, traceability and certification. You do not need to coordinate multiple actors.
- Test without risk. In our lab and pilot environments, you can test new processes without disrupting your production or investing in expensive equipment.
- Proven in practice. Our research is turned into services already used by companies in the construction, automotive and manufacturing industries.
Circular strategies at RISE – how it works
1. Identify the business opportunity
We help you map which products, components and materials have the greatest potential, which strategy is most profitable for your business, and which legal requirements affect your products.
2. Design for multiple life cycles
We support you with ecodesign for production and disassembly, material selection and life cycle assessment.
3. From pilot to production
We help you develop and implement processes for remanufacturing, reuse and repurposing, with support ranging from production technology and additive manufacturing to business models.
4. Test and verify
Through testing, materials analysis and non-destructive testing, we ensure that your solution holds up technically, environmentally and in terms of regulatory compliance, and that it meets relevant standards.
Get started with a training course
Do you and your team want to identify the opportunities yourselves? During a practical one-day course, you will get an introduction to reuse, repair and remanufacturing and learn to identify what drives both your organisation and your customers. You will analyse which processes suit your products, such as collection, condition assessment and disassembly, and go through the fundamentals of a circular business model.
You will leave with a concrete action plan for your first business case and a checklist to support your continued work.
