Certification of compost

Certification of compost according to SPCR 152 is a voluntary commitment that clearly shows that you take responsibility for the environment and contribute to the circular economy.
The certification is carried out by RISE – as an independent party, which gives your customers and partners extra security and confidence.

The benefits of certification of compost

Certification of compost according to SPCR 152:

  • shows that the compost has been produced from clean, source-sorted, and biologically easily degradable substrates
  • ensures that the compost is hygienic and meets the requirements for metal content, weeds, and visible contaminants
  • results in a uniform description of the compost's plant nutrient content and soil-improving properties, which is updated regularly
  • strengthens confidence in your product among municipalities and society at large.

Certification strengthens your brand and gives you the right to use the certification mark in marketing contexts.

The certification process

Certification of compost according to SPCR 152 begins with a qualification year during which the hygienisation method is checked and ongoing sampling and analysis of the compost begins. During the qualification year, external inspections are carried out to ensure that both the method and self-monitoring are working. If the hygienisation method and product are approved, and the external inspection shows that self-monitoring is reliable, a certificate can be issued after one year.
