Microorganisms in buildings, commonly referred to as mould, are a societal problem with both economic and health consequences for society and individuals. RISE works to prevent mould growt in buildings and to ensure that existing damage is addressed in the best possible way.

Earthquakes are catastrophic events that cannot be predicted. Yet, we must ensure that buildings, infrastructures and critical equipment for power generation and telecom are reliable during earthquakes, also in regions where earthquakes are not common.

At RISE we have long experience about the building as a system, constructions and building products as well as life cycle assessment (LCA), and can provide guidance, education and investigations regarding LCA of buildings and building components.

Building Stock Analysis

In order to evaluate and develop new construction products and building solutions or new applications to existing solutions, new knowledge may need to be developed through research. RISE has both broad and deep knowledge of research in building physics and can support you with this.

In order to determine the function and performance of a building system, including its connections, it is necessary to make an overall test and assessment of it. A building system may consist of roofing, outer walls or flooring/foundation or single layers.

Evaluation of mechanical properties of different types of building components. We carry out both standardized and accredited testing as well as specialized testing of components and products. For some products we can also offer certification in accordance with the current standard.

Today we spend 90% of our time indoors. How we experience our indoor environment in buildings is therefore very important for our well-being. RISE works with investigations of indoor environment problems in the field, preventive work in the construction phase as moisture experts and with research and education in the field of indoor environment.

Building physics is the science of heat, air and moisture transport in buildings. RISE conducts research, collaborates and educates in basic and applied building physics, primarily concerning heat and moisture transport and air flow in building parts and buildings. RISE evaluates structures such as exterior walls, windows and ceilings, but also foundations and their connections to meet requirements for, among other things, moisture safety, energy use, comfort and healthy indoor environment.

RISE is the natural party for various actors in the area of wet areas materials for use in wet areas in terms of research and innovation, testing, damage investigations, training, certification and more. RISE has a unique pool of expertise and comprehensive resources.
