Circular Business Lab's Malin Orebäck program director for RE:Source

04 September 2025, 11:34

On September 3rd, Malin Orebäck, business manager at Circular Business Lab, stepped in as the new program director for the strategic innovation program RE:Source, led by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

Malin already has a strong foundation in the sustainability field through her current role as business manager for Circular Business Lab at RISE, a position she will continue to combine with her new responsibility as program director.

RE:Source is a central force in driving the transition towards a more circular and resource-efficient economy and has much in common with our ambitions at Circular Business Lab. Now that I have the opportunity to lead the program, I see the possibilities with the combination of my two roles. There are many natural synergies between RE:Source and our work at Circular Business Lab, and I really look forward to exploring that, says Malin.

RE:Source is one of 17 strategic innovation programs funded by Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency, and Formas, with the mission to strengthen resource efficiency and Swedish companies' competitiveness in strategically important areas.

Since its start in 2016, RE:Source, under RISE's leadership, has supported around 300 initiatives and created several acclaimed analyses such as the Circularity Gap Report Sweden and Circular Economy Outlook. Later this year, the long-awaited Circular Value Gap Report will also be launched.

In her current role, Malin leads Circular Business Lab – RISE's membership-based collaboration workshop where companies and organizations receive support to develop circular businesses through new forms of collaboration and deep expertise from the entire RISE family.

Malin takes over from Cecilia Tall, who has led the program with great success since 2022. Cecilia is now moving on to an exciting new challenge as innovation and research counselor at the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi, India.

We wish Cecilia the best of luck in her new adventure in India – we know she will do a fantastic job there!
