Strengthening competitiveness and innovation through applied research
RISE plays a unique role in society by supporting both the business community and the public sector. With our clear mission of conducting applied research, we influence social development and meet the needs of the world around us, as well as those of our customers, both today and tomorrow, with regard to major transition issues.
As Europe's fourth-largest research institute, RISE also plays an important role in developing European research policy, holding a leading position in sustainable and digital transitions.
A word from our CEO
The RISE interim report for January–September shows that the Group’s net turnover rose marginally to SEK 3,202 million despite a continued weak economic climate with lower demand in parts of the market. The start of the year had a negative impact on earnings, but the restructuring measures implemented and effective cost control are having a positive effect.
In the third quarter, RISE entered into a number of new collaborations with customers and partners in key areas relating to competitiveness, climate and welfare. Together with Vanadis Energy, new battery technology is to be scaled up. The PFAROS project brings together partners from 24 countries to reduce PFAS in healthcare, whilst the SCALE-CVD project aims to pave the way for developments in heart health. The fact that RISE’s technical infrastructures play a key role in innovation is clearly demonstrated by the Nordan project, in which new, more energy-efficient ship concepts are now to be verified.
On 1 September, a new organisational structure was introduced to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and develop even stronger offerings for customers in the business and public sectors, in line with the needs of the wider world. For, as we can see, the need for RISE has never been greater.

RISE performs inspections, certifications, calibrations and tests across a wider range than any other operator in Sweden.
