Accredited Laboratory Services for Grinding and Sieving

RISE laboratory in Borås offers professional grinding, sieving, particle size analysis and sample preparation for industry and research. The services are used across a range of sectors where representative and homogeneous samples are essential for reliable analytical results.

Purpose

Grinding and sieving are common sample preparation steps prior to chemical and physical analyses. Correct pre-treatment ensures that the sample is homogeneous, representative and suited for subsequent analysis.

Method

Grinding of most materials down to a particle size of 0.1–1 mm, depending on the material's properties and volume. Several grinding mills are available, adapted to the hardness, brittleness and toughness of the material. For heat-sensitive materials, cryogenic grinding with liquid nitrogen is available, which preserves the material's properties during the process.

Sieving and Particle Size Analysis

Sieving and fractionation of both finer and coarser materials using two different sieving apparatuses:

Smaller model (200 mm): 22 fractions between 0.020–2.8 mm

Larger model (400 mm): 17 fractions between 0.25–90 mm

Complementary Services

Drying and moisture content determination using two drying cabinets Sample preparation prior to chemical analysis Accredited services available for drying and sample preparation
