Robert Furunger is a Project Manager at RISE Proving Ground AstaZero, focusing on the development, testing, and validation of next-generation traffic safety solutions for connected and automated vehicles. He leads research and innovation projects in close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers, technology suppliers, public authorities, and academia, contributing to safer transport systems and accelerating the introduction of new technologies.
His work spans advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving, and the development of new test methods, test equipment, and test environments for evaluating vehicle performance under realistic and challenging conditions. His particular areas of focus include traffic safety, perception and sensor systems, vulnerable road users, road maintenance in automated traffic environments, and the verification of future mobility solutions in a safe, repeatable, and scientifically robust manner.
Robert has extensive experience in building international research consortia and translating research outcomes into practical testing and validation solutions. He drives collaboration between industry, government agencies, and research organisations, and actively works on topics related to future regulations, Euro NCAP, certification, and the verification of automated transport systems.
