Jakob Axelsson

Jakob is senior research leader for the area systems-of-systems at RISE SICS, and also professor of computer science at Mälardalen University in Västerås. He has almost 15 years of industrial experience, primarily from the automotive industry, but has also been active as an academic researcher in parallel and holds a PhD in computer systems from Linköping University (1997). His current research interests are primarily related to the development of systems-of-systems. This includes cyber-physical systems and Internet of Things; software engineering; system architecture; modeling techniques; and analysis of risks, safety, and business aspects. Particular emphasis is placed on systemic issues, and a systems engineering approach is used.
