Aleksi Rinta-Paavola

Aleksi defended his doctoral thesis in fire safety engineering at Aalto University, Finland in 2024. His thesis, entitled "Pyrolysis and Cracking of Nordic Timbers Under External Heat Exposure" considers numerical modelling of charring and heat release of spruce and pine timbers. Aleksi's main expertise areas are burning and pyrolysis of wood, numerical fire simulation, and materials testing using cone calorimetry and different small-scale methods, such as thermogravimetric analysis and microscale combustion calorimetry.
