Cellulose fibres: Stock Preparation Infrastructure

Flexible stock preparation infrastructure for cellulose fibres, an important step in paper production.

The infrastructure capabilities include single-stage or more complex multi-stage fractionation using screens and hydrocyclone systems. Pulp refining equipment can be attached at desired positions. All equipment is at an industrial scale and supported by a pulp and paper testing lab.

The testbed consists of:

  • Pressure screens with baskets; different sizes of slots and holes for screening.
  • Hydrocyclone rigs with different numbers of hydrocyclones.
  • Refiners with different refiner fillings.
  • Pumps, pulp tanks and measuring and control equipment.
  • Piping systems and flexible hoses for connecting the units to complete stock preparation systems.

The units are portable and can easily be connected in different combinations to test different stock preparation strategies.
