Increased connectivity raises security demands – RISE EMC facility now TISAX certified

Rapid technology development, increased connectivity, and intense competition among vehicle manufacturers are driving a rapidly growing need for secure test environments. As the automotive industry undergoes broad digitalisation, entirely new demands are emerging for testing electronics, communication systems, and information security. RISE test facility in Borås – the largest test environment in Northern Europe for Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and Wireless communication – has now been certified according to TISAX, the automotive industry’s joint security standard.
The certification marks a key milestone in strengthening the protection of sensitive information and prototypes throughout the entire development chain. TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) is an industry-wide framework designed to ensure the secure handling of sensitive information and prototypes. It is used throughout the European automotive industry and is administered by the ENX Association. The certification confirms that RISE meets the requirements for both technical and organisational information security and that the certification results can be shared directly with other approved players in the industry.
Here, products and systems are tested to ensure they can withstand electromagnetic interference and function reliably in complex communication environments. The facility comprises ten test chambers, several of which are specialised for different types of EMC and radio testing. Among them is AWITAR (Automotive Wireless Test and Research Facility), one of Europe’s largest and most advanced EMC chambers, which enables scenario-based testing of vehicle components in realistic traffic environments.
"The TISAX certification is clear proof that our EMC operations meet the high standards set by the industry for the secure handling of information and prototypes, in addition to the requirements covered by ISO/IEC 17025 for accredited testing activities. We see a growing demand for test environments that combine cutting-edge technology with robust information security, especially in the automotive sector, where development is progressing rapidly," says Monika Fuller, Vice President of the Vehicle and Automation Department at RISE.
The certification also covers RISE Information Security Management System, strengthening the organisation’s overall offering in testing, verification and development. Together with the Battery Safety Lab and the AstaZero Proving Ground, both already TISAX certified, the EMC facility forms a part of a trio of strategic tech infrastructures within RISE that meet the automotive industry’s common security requirements. This combined capability enables RISE to meet the industry’s growing need for secure, reliable and high-performance test environments to develop next-generation technology.
