Purpose

The purpose of petrographic analysis of aggregates is to ensure that rock, natural gravel, and recycled materials have appropriate properties for inclusion as a subcomponent in various end products. We issue appropriate test reports with statements for road, railway, asphalt, construction, and concrete purposes according to, among others, EN 13043, EN 13242, TDOK 2015:0759/EN 13450, and EN 12620 / SS 137003.

The right subcomponents for the end products will ensure long durability, good ability to withstand external influences and savings for society in infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dam structures and substructures for railway traffic.

Method

We are accredited for all the mentioned methods for petrographic analysis. Methods used for the evaluation of aggregate materials are RILEM AAR-1.1 (microscopic method), often in combination with SS-EN 932-3 (macroscopic/ocular method).

For road structures and unbound layers in relation to stability, Method TDOK 2014:0144 - method C (thin section analysis) is used for the evaluation of free mica content.

Deliveries

Sample preparation and petrographic analysis is carried out in our laboratory located in Borås. Test reports according to the method are obtained.
