BeBo workshop: How can financing become a key?

Welcome to a workshop on how financing can be a key to increasing energy-efficiency renovations in multi-family residential buildings. BeBo has invited property owners, banks, and industry stakeholders to discuss solutions, regulatory frameworks, and future collaboration.

Energy-related renovations of multi-family residential buildings are increasingly highlighted as a key component in the transition toward a more energy-efficient and resilient building stock. While many property owners aim to reduce energy consumption in their buildings, investments in such renovations are frequently deferred. To gain a better understanding of the factors that drive or hinder these investments, BeBo is hosting a digital workshop bringing together representatives from housing cooperatives and private property owners with stakeholders from banks and the financial sector.

Topics to be discussed during the workshop include:

  • What conditions are necessary to make energy-related renovations more attractive to finance?
  • What role do long-term renovation plans, updated maintenance schedules, or well-substantiated profitability analyses play in securing favorable financing?
  • How can property owners and banks work together to reduce uncertainties and develop a stronger basis for investment decisions?
  • How do energy-efficiency measures affect a property’s value, and is this factor taken into account during the property valuation process?

The purpose of the workshop is to identify both challenges and opportunities, while fostering a deeper understanding of each party’s perspective.

Agenda:

  • Introduction
  • The EPBD and the national building renovation plan – Svein Ruud (RISE)
  • How banks can support energy renovations through sustainable finance, within the framework of the EU Taxonomy and other regulatory requirements – Sofia Cederlöf (SEB)
  • Challenges for smaller property owners in carrying out energy renovations – Rikard Silverfur (Fastighetsägarna)
  • Challenges for housing cooperatives (BRFs) in carrying out energy renovations – Mikael Rosén (HSB Riksförbund)
  • Panel discussion with invited representatives from the real estate, banking, and finance sectors – Ted Lundberg (Riksbyggen), Jesper Jonsteg (Rison), Sarah Lindholm (Swedbank), Sirak Mogues (Handelsbanken)

The workshop is held in Swedish and takes place digitally via Teams.
