Purpose
New fireplaces, inserts and stoves that use solid fuels, such as wood, pellets and briquettes, must now have an energy label. The idea of energy labeling is to make it easier for consumers to make energy-smart choices, so that they can choose an efficient product with low wood or pellet consumption. In addition, in 2020 and 2022, energy labeling was supplemented by an eco-design requirement from the EU with requirements for efficiency and emissions, which will reduce emissions from small-scale biofuel heating. Properly used and with efficient equipment, small-scale biofuel burning can help achieve climate and energy policy goals, since the fuel is renewable.
Testing is carried out in RISE's own combustion lab in Borås by experienced staff. We offer tests that can be used by manufacturers as a basis for CE marking of their products.
