Full-scale testing of Complete Light Electric Vehicles (CVLD)

CVLD – Complete Vehicle Light Duty – is SEEL’s offer for advanced full‑scale testing of light electric vehicles. Modern, repeatable test environments give you reliable results that accelerate development and support safe, energy‑efficient and competitive vehicles.

Vehicle testing for optimal performance and quality

When development windows shrink and complexity increases, you need test results that provide clear answers early. Many development teams work under intense time pressure, facing parallel technology shifts and growing regulatory demands, while every decision must be well‑founded to avoid costly rework later on. We understand that it’s not just about testing – it’s about being able to trust that the tests truly reflect real‑world conditions.

In our controlled and repeatable test environments, we expose light vehicles to realistic conditions to verify durability, performance, environmental resistance, electromobility and safety. Here, you get the clarity and predictability required to make the right decisions at the right time.

By testing early in the development process, you can identify deviations, reduce risks and avoid expensive redesigns. The CVLD platform is designed to meet exactly these challenges – and to give you confidence that every test is carried out with precision, traceability and full transparency. We test all types of light vehicles, from passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to special‑purpose vehicles and emerging mobility solutions.

The offer includes

Within our CVLD offering, our full‑scale tests include, among other things:

  • Complete vehicle testing: Full‑scale testing of light vehicles under controlled and repeatable conditions, including dynamic driving tests, simulated road profiles, road‑load and power measurements, acceleration and braking tests, as well as evaluation of engine and drivetrain control.
  • Pre‑certification: Accelerates the path to approval by ensuring that tests deliver the right results from the start. We identify risks early and provide clear answers on whether the documentation is ready to be submitted to the authorities.
  • Self‑certification (SAE J2908): We provide a complete and quality‑assured test protocol that makes it easy for you as a customer to carry out your own certification with full traceability and confidence.
  • Witnessed test (UN GTR 21 – EU version): By working side by side with an accredited technical service in our test rigs, we ensure an efficient and transparent certification process.
  • Testing of electromobility and high‑voltage systems: Includes verification of complete HV systems, charging and fast charging including V2G, energy efficiency, range, and thermal testing of the battery and drivetrain in the vehicle’s real operating environment.
  • Tailored test programs and engineering support: We offer customized setups for OEMs, suppliers and research projects, including test planning, method development and data acquisition.

What happens after the tests?

After the tests are completed, you receive a structured test report with results, validation material, and decision support for further development.

Why choose SEEL?

SEEL – the Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory – is Sweden’s national test center for research and development in electromobility. Here, advanced test infrastructure meets cutting‑edge expertise to accelerate the development of next‑generation electrified transport solutions – and to strengthen a sustainable, competitive battery value chain in Sweden and Europe.

As a SEEL customer, you gain access not only to our test infrastructure but to an entire ecosystem of complementary expertise and testing capabilities. Maximize the value of your vehicle testing by combining it with specialist competencies within SEEL and RISE, such as solar simulations, EMC testing and advanced environmental testing.

As an independent actor, we deliver objective and reliable results in modern laboratories where every test is carried out in a controlled and repeatable environment. This provides safe, comparable and decision‑supporting data that drives development forward.

Our strategic location on Hisingen in Gothenburg also offers fast and convenient access to the region’s strong automotive and industrial cluster. This means shorter lead times, proximity to the right expertise and a partner who can support you throughout the entire development chain – from idea to verified solution.
