Modern looking factory in Swedish landscape

6G Positioning and Edge Computing for Smart Factories

The project combines hybrid positioning with standardised positioning APIs to prepare Swedish industry for 6G and the next generation of smart factories.

Project Objectives

At the core of the project is hybrid positioning in 6G environments. The aim is to enable seamless, accurate and robust positioning both indoors and outdoors.

Expected Impact and Outcomes

The project implements and validates APIs in private networks to demonstrate how they can securely integrate connectivity, data processing and positioning services with low latency across a range of industrial applications.

This is essential for autonomous, context-aware production systems that can adapt to changing conditions in real time.

Planned Approach and Implementation

The project designs, develops and demonstrates a modular and scalable hybrid positioning system built on private 5G/6G network infrastructure.

The solution combines several technologies, including radio-based positioning, GNSS, UWB and BLE, to enable continuous tracking and positioning of equipment and materials in warehouses, factories and logistics hubs.
