Inspection of swimming pools
RISE concrete assessors have extensive experience in examining the condition of concrete structures at swimming pools and swimming facilities. At these plants, leakage and concrete damage often occur in the form of reinforcement corrosion and cracking.

Causes of concrete damages
Reinforcement corrosion can be caused by mainly two things, the carbonation of the concrete and the presence of chlorides in the concrete.
Carbonation, which can be said to be a natural aging of concrete, means that alkaline components in the concrete react with the carbon dioxide in the air, whereby the pH value of the concrete drops and the original anti-corrosion properties of the concrete are thus lost.
If chlorides are added to the concrete in a certain amount, these can also trigger reinforcement corrosion, even if no carbonation has taken place. In swimming pools, chlorides are often added to the concrete by neutralizing the bathing water with hydrochloric acid.
When the reinforcement rusts, the corrosion products acquire a larger volume than the original steel, which causes concrete damage.
In swimming pools and swimming facilities, there may also be problems with releasing, cracking and erection of ceramic tiles.
Method
RISE's surveys of swimming pools and bathhouses usually include visual inspections, damage mapping, measurements of covering concrete layers and carbonation depth, as well as chloride sampling.
Delivery
RISE's surveys are usually compiled in verified survey reports.
