SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory, owned by RISE and Chalmers, is one of Europe’s most advanced test and demonstration environments for electrified transport systems. The facility in Säve, Gothenburg, covers 14,000 m² and offers complete testing capabilities from battery cells to fully assembled vehicles.

As part of the European IPCEI initiative, SEEL provides cutting-edge research and independent testing capabilities within energy storage, driveline technology and recycling – support that makes the development process faster, safer and more cost‑efficient.

Test, verify and optimise your electrification with us

In Säve, we offer advanced testing of battery cells, modules and packs in climate and thermal chambers. The facility also includes test cells for electric machines, e‑axles and complete drivelines, including NVH analysis. We test both light and heavy electric vehicles, charging functionality, hydrogen systems and infrastructure interaction. The environment supports everything from concept development to validation and certification.

SEEL’s facilities – cutting-edge expertise in three locations

SEEL consists of three complementary test facilities. In addition to the site in Säve, there is a facility in Nykvarn equipped with SEEL’s most powerful systems for testing electric axles for, among other things, trucks, buses, and construction machinery. In Borås, there is capacity for safety‑critical battery testing that ensures batteries meet the required safety levels during use, handling, and production. Together, the facilities form a unique national resource for the safe and efficient development of future electrified transport systems.
