In the previous project, we developed and demonstrated a modular battery replacement system for electric-powered agricultural and forestry machinery. In this project, we want to build on the results to take the ecosystem around the battery replacement system step by step towards the market.

The rapid electrification of the vehicle fleet presents new challenges for the power grid – but also new opportunities. By mapping where EV owners live, how they drive, and who can benefit from V2X technology, this project generates insights to support a more flexible and data-driven energy system.

Developing an Optical Torque Transducer and a Physics-Based Digital Twin for Rotary and Dynamic Torque Measurement.

The project is a system demonstrator within FFI and focuses on testing the potential of HCT vehicles in urban traffic, both with conventional combustion engines and BEV trucks, in order to improve energy and transport efficiency and contribute to a more sustainable urban environment with fewer heavy vehicles. for the same transport mission.

Battery housings for heavy trucks face a complex and challenging set of requirements. They must be circular in terms of servicing, upgradability, and material recycling. At the same time, they need to be weatherproof and capable of withstanding mechanical loads. Also, they must be resource-efficient in terms of both materials and manufacturing.

The project's goal is to develop, evaluate and compare solutions for joining, disassembly and reassembling joints in battery packs to enable circularity. The project is a collaboration between RISE, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Stena Recycling, Atlas Copco, ABB, Swerim and University West.

ZEvRA will demonstrate a harmonized circularity methodology that allows for interchangeability and replicability throughout Europe. The methodology and manufacturing technologies will be supported by digital tools and validated on a full circular car, integrating 8 prototype components covering 84% of the total automotive material mix.

Sweden's electric car fleet, largely owned by single-family households, has potential to contribute to stabilising the electricity grid through frequency regulation. This project explores driving forces and conditions for single-family households to participate in frequency regulation through V2G and calculates the potential and its economic value.

In ALPH, new coating and forming methods are devloped to enable the use of aluminum as bipolar plate material for High Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFCs). The lightweight metal combined with the higher temperatures enable lighter fuel cells with a simple cooling system for use in for example heavy duty trucks.

Next generation technologies for battery systems in transport electrification based on novel design approach to increase performance and reduce carbon footprint.

This project aims to create and evaluate more efficient motor designs with improved field factors and reduced environmental impacts, by exploiting the use of additive manufacturing. This enables higher motor efficiencies and longer lifetimes compared to the state of the art today, leading to 5-10% lower carbon footprint for electric motors.

The project works on strategies for the impact of network tariffs and other control signals on demand flexibility and the opportunities with machine-readable control signals, which are a prerequisite for smart vehicle charging.

Making batteries to store clean energy is a dirty process - or was – with NoVOCs unique approach. A consortium of 17 partners will develop manufacturing technology for next-generation lithium-ion batteries, that can eliminate the volatile organic compounds from the lithium-ion battery manufacturing process via both dry and wet cell manufacturing

Physics and data-based battery management by multi-domain digital twins (BATMAX) sets out to pave the way for advanced next-generation data-based and adaptable battery management systems capable of fulfilling the needs and requirements of various mobile and stationary applications and use cases.

Hydrogen as a fuel has been considered in previous studies as a practical and economic possibility for heavy forestry transports to achieve zero emissions. This project aims to analyze how the practical value chain should come together in Värmland for hydrogen-powered forestry transports to become a reality.

PowerizeD is to take the sustainability and resilience of the European energy value chain, from generation to application, to a new level and strengthen Europe‘s technological sovereignty.

Within EU, road transport today accounts for the largest share of carbon dioxide emissions, close to 25%. Most of it occurs in the use phase, then production of the vehicle's components follows. In the "Ground Zero" project we investigate how use of vehicle components in composite can contribute to the path towards reduced carbon dioxide emissions.

The overall goal of the project is to contribute with knowledge so that electric roads for heavy traffic can be established on a large scale and thus enable a transition to a fossil-free and energy-efficient transport system almost free from emissions.

‘Energy ECS’ project will focus on developing European state-of-the-art technologies for future mobility. The solutions are for their micro/ macro energy related challenges, enabling technologies for their ICT infrastructures and electronics hardware that form the basis for related future businesses and services.

Permanent magnets based on Rare Earth Elements are essential components of many high-tech products of great importance for the green energy transition. The EU H2020 SUSMAGPRO project will provide an infrastructure for magnet recycling that will be ready to supply a significant amount of recycled NdFeB magnet material to European magnet producers.

The project aimed to maintain a strong regional research and innovation network around lightweight with international competitiveness. In the third stage, we had a special focus on component, material and manufacturing challenges in electrification, with a focus on vehicles and transport and the transformation that awaits manufacturing companies.

The MODELflyg project (Infrastructure modelling for large-scale introduction of electric aircraft and air traffic control) was a research project funded by the Swedish Transport Administration. Participating parties were RISE, the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration, Swedavia, Örnsköldsvik Airport, Uppsala University and Linköping University.

Hybrid and electric operation of trucks can lead to positive effects on the economy and the environment. The development may also contribute to a quieter driveline which opens up opportunities for more comfortable driver and traffic environments.
