A rapid development of the market for charging stations means fast changes in the regulations. And there will be some challenges ahead, especially linked to existing and future standards. RISE has extensive expertise within electrical safety, EMC, radio, electricity measurement, cybersecurity and functional safety.
We offer a complete range of services for testing and certification of charging stations and other charging infrastructure according to international standards. RISE solutions are flexible to suit your particular needs and our experts will help you ensure that your products meet relevant standards as well as market and regulatory requirements for safety and quality.
Our team can advise you on how to apply the requirements and how to prepare the business for future regulations, for example within electricity measurement and cybersecurity.
Electrical safety and environmental durability testing
The aim of testing the safety and environmental durability is to ensure that the charging station is safe against electric shock and fire. RISE can help you with:
- Accredited electric safety testing of AC charging stations to meet the low voltage directive (LVD).
- Testing according to SS-EN IEC 61851-1 Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging System (harmonised standard under LVD). The manufacturer certifies compliance with the directive by self-declaration.
- Environmental durability and IP-testing according to generic standards in addition to protection against heat, cold, damp, water and dust as well as shock and vibrations (partly included in SS-EN IEC 61851-1).
Method
The tests are accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 and are performed in our labs in Borås.
Delivery
RISE delivers an accredited test report, which can form the basis of the certification of compliance with the directive by self-declaration.
EMC and radio communication: testing and certification for CE- marking
RISE is accredited for EMC and radio communications testing of AC-charging stations to meet the EMC-directive and the Radio directive (RED), for which we are also a notified body.
EMC-testing is performed according to IEC 61851-21-2.
The radio-testing is performed according to relevant ETSI-standards such as:
- ETSI EN 300 328
- ETSI EN 300 330
- ETSI EN 301 908
RISE is Telecommunications certified body for FCC and has access to FCC- and ISED-validated test labs in the US and Canada. Through our partners, we offer services for Global Market Access (GMA).
Method
The test is accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 and performed in our labs in Borås.
Delivery
RISE delivers an accredited test report, which can be used as the basis for certification.
Test of electricity meters for
CE-marking
At RISE, we offer testing and certification of electricity meters in charging stations according to Swedish and international standards.
RISE is accredited for testing of electricity meters and certification to meet the Measurement Instruments Directive (MID). RISE is notified body for MID and is authorised to issue EU approvals.
Testing and certification can be performed on electricity meter modules in AC-charging stations according MID. Charging stations are yet to be included in MID, but there is an ongoing process to make that happen.

Evaluation of cyber security and functional safety
RISE is accredited for testing and evaluating cyber security of charging stations (IoT consumer products) ETSI 303645 and public charging stations IEC 62443-4-2. Our offer also includes penetration tests of charging stations (not accredited). In terms of safety, we perform accredited evaluation and risk analysis according to IEC 61508.
Cyber security is characterised by a rapid development and that goes for the regulations too. The radio directive presents new demands on cybersecurity and forthcoming methods under the Cyber Security Act.
Method
Accredited evaluation according to standard ISO/IEC 17025 is performed in our labs in Borås.

The result of our evaluation is compiled in an accredited report.
