Purpose

There are several reasons to regularly calibrate your measuring instruments, with one being to increase the accuracy of the measurements taken. In addition, some applications require that the measuring instruments used are calibrated in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025.

Method

Examples of various types of anemometers that we routinely calibrate are hot-wire anemometers, pitot tube static anemometers and rotating vane anemometers. We also calibrate cup anemometers and ultrasonic anemometers but to a lesser extent.

We use two types of equipment when we calibrate anemometers, a wheel for low air velocities (0.1-4 m/s) and a wind tunnel for higher air velocities (0.3 - 35 m/s).

The lower measuring range setup is usually used to calibrate small sensors and hot-wire anemometers which are used to measure small air movements in rooms, draft. The sensor is calibrated upright in a horizontal airflow. We can also offer calibration in a vertical air flow, with horizontal sensor, to see the effect of self-convection from the sensor.

In the setup with the wind tunnel, air velocity sensors used in e.g. air ducts and ventilation systems are common. We can offer accredited calibration up to 35 m/s for most types of sensors, but for larger types of rotating vane anemometers accreditation is limited to a maximum of 10 m/s.

The calibration is performed at several selected measuring points within the sensor's measuring range. The measuring points can be specified by the customer when ordering.

Deliveries

The calibration results are delivered in a digital calibration certificate accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. The certificate can be written in either English or Swedish.
