The National Laboratory for High Voltage and High Current

RISE is Sweden's NMI (National Metrology Institute) and, according to the Swedish constitution, is responsible for the central measurement quantities in the International System of Units, SI.

The National Laboratory for high-voltage and high-current maintains the best resources in Sweden when it comes to measurement and calibration. We endeavour continuously to develop our references and measurement methods to be able to meet the needs of industry, both domestically and internationally. To this end, we cooperate with sister organisations in research projects and in international standardisation efforts

Measurement of high voltage often means very large pieces of equipment that cannot be readily transported to a calibration laboratory. We therefore offer on-site calibration even at the highest voltages for customers both domestic and international.

Develop high-voltage and high-current measurement techniques. Partake in international standardisation in IEC and CENELEC. First-class high-voltage metrological research.

State-of-art calibrations of high-voltage and high-current measuring systems. The sheer size of many high-voltage and high-current measuring systems has made it imperative for us to provide our calibration services also on-site on the user’s premises all over the world

Provide testing services. High-voltage testing in-house, verification of energy measuring system in EHV electricity grids, electrical testing of trains on-board the rolling stock.

Develop test and measurement techniques and instruments Focal point is the needs of our Clients

High Voltage Laboraty

Internationally unique. Strong personnel group comprising both world-renowned researchers and experienced technicians guarantees competence, flexibility and capacity.

Measurements are made all over the world, in all sectors. Usually we measure in order to make decisions or to control something. It can be to decide on certain actions, but it can also be automated decisions in industry control- o…

Calibration high voltage & current measuring equipment (National Lab)

The mission for RISE's High voltage group is to provide state-of-the-art calibrations of measuring equipment used in high voltage and high current testing. Within the high voltage area we have resources for DC and AC line fre…

The National Laboratory for Power and Energy

RISE is Sweden's NMI (National Metrology Institute) and is, according to the Swedish constitution, responsible for the central measurement quantities in the International System of Units, SI.

Testing of high voltage equipment

We perform testing of products, components and materials, such as power cables, pre-fabricated substations and much more.

Calibration of electric power quality instruments

We can offer calibrations for electric power quality parameters such as voltage, current and power for non-sinusoidal signals. Continuous calibration at RISE lays the foundation for quality-assured measurements.

Energy system analysis

We make analyses of local, regional and national energy systems focused on societal benefits to provide information for investments, policy and business models. The analyses are performed using a systems perspective and often incl…

The climate challenge coupled with society’s need for energy demand new, sustainable, competitive and flexible solutions. National goals such as fossil-free electricity generation by 2040, a fossil fuel-independent vehicle fleet b…
