The ICE data centre (Infrastructure and Cloud research & test Environment) at RISE is a leading facility for testing and experimentation in the data centre field.
We inaugurated the facility in January 2016 and welcome customers and partners from all over the world to use ICE for their tests and innovations.
Our main mission is to contribute to Sweden being at the forefront of sustainable and efficient data centre solutions, cloud applications and data analytics. By increasing innovation and attracting researchers and companies, we strengthen the national business area and help product and service companies to excel.
The facility is located in an old warehouse within walking distance of Luleå University of Technology. There are three different modules available for testing and experimentation, as well as a demonstration space that can accommodate over 50 people.
In the first module, we offer a stable environment optimised for testing IT and cloud-related applications and processing large amounts of data. Since February 2016, we have been collecting measurement data from equipment and sensors for modelling, simulation, and optimisation. Our server infrastructure is based on Dell SmartEdge RX730xd and utilises GPU acceleration. We also offer data storage with Openstack and Hadoop.
The second module is flexible in its physical installation and is ideal for testing plant and tooling innovations. We have quick connectors for power, water, and network for easy replacement of equipment. Our server infrastructure includes both Dell servers and Open Compute v2 servers.
We are proud to offer a modern and innovative test environment to drive progress in the data centre space. Contact us today to learn more and explore the possibilities with ICE Datacentre at RISE.
