Contact CamillaSustainable, Beautiful, and Inclusive – The NEB Academy is a European collaboration aimed at making the research and knowledge needed to transform the built environment sector accessible.
The NEB Academy was launched by the European Commission in 2022 as part of the New European Bauhaus and the European Green Deal. The European Commission describes the NEB Academy as the learning and innovation infrastructure of the New European Bauhaus. Its purpose is to turn knowledge and ideas into practice by strengthening skills and connecting educators, researchers, practitioners and public authorities across Europe.
The NEB Academy initially focused on skills development for sustainable construction. Today, it is evolving into a broader platform for knowledge, learning, capacity-building and innovation. Its aim is to support the transition towards a climate-neutral, circular, beautiful and inclusive built environment.
Since 2024, RISE has been part of the NEBA Alliance, a consortium of 14 European partners that has laid the foundation for collaboration within the NEB Academy. The project runs until the end of 2026 and has established a network of regional hubs and developed ways to share training, knowledge and experience across national and organisational boundaries.
The NEB Academy offers courses and learning resources on topics including bio-based materials, circular construction, building design, cultural heritage and digitalisation. The courses are aimed at practitioners, public authorities, educators and students and are available through the NEB Academy’s digital platform.
The other partners in the NEBA Alliance are the University of Primorska, Holzbau Austria, Łódź University of Technology, Aalto University, the Estonian Academy of Arts, Bauhaus Earth, TU Delft, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, Regione Liguria, CESEFOR, InnovaWood, BOKU University and the European Association for Architectural Education.
The NEBA Alliance is funded under Horizon Europe through the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking, with support from the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium.
