Plastics play a central role in the transition to sustainability, but new solutions are required to comply with EU regulations such as the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and packaging regulations. Companies must navigate the complex requirements surrounding circular design, recyclable materials and producer responsibility throughout the value chain. Increasing the use of recycled and bio-based plastics without compromising performance, optimising processes for new materials and ensuring that products meet functional and sustainability requirements necessitates extensive expertise and testing environments.
RISE develops and verifies sustainable plastic solutions throughout the value chain. In our laboratories and pilot plants, we test new material blends without disrupting our own production. We promote circular design and material choices that facilitate recycling, verifying properties through mechanical, chemical and thermal testing in accordance with recognised standards. RISE helps companies to navigate regulations and to optimise processes for recycled and bio-based plastics. Through the National Centre for Sustainable Plastics, companies can collaborate with industry, academia, and trade organisations to develop projects together and share knowledge.
