Michael Reid

Within the Smart Materials Unit at RISE I aim to Improve the sustainability and functionality of products and processes through chemistry, nanotechnology and engineering.

I have more than 10 years of experience working with forest-based products and nanotechnology with particular focus on nanocellulose. I received my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University, Canada with multidisciplinary work spanning the topics of characterization and metrology; fundamental studies of interfacial phenomena and adsorption; and the development of advanced sustainable composite materials for electronics, membranes, barriers and coatings.
