Chiara Ceccobello
Gruppchef
I hold a Ph.D. in Physics and have over a decade of experience in theoretical astronomy research. In January 2025, I joined RISE Research Institutes of Sweden as a Project Manager and Researcher within the Data Platforms and Systems Unit. In this role, I lead the ESA Phi‑Lab initiative in Sweden, contributing—together with ESA and Vinnova—to the development of a strong, sustainable, and innovative national space sector.
Since December 2025, I have also served as Group Manager of the Space Technology team within my unit. We are a young and highly motivated group with the ambition to conduct impactful research in Artificial Intelligence applied to Earth Observation. Our work supports authorities and industry in unlocking the vast knowledge contained in satellite data.
In addition, we focus on designing novel and more efficient approaches to satellite data processing, aiming to equip the next generation of satellite missions with enhanced analytical capabilities and the ability to deliver actionable insights to decision‑makers in a timely manner.
Ultimately, our goal is to help society use space sustainably, for the benefit of both people and the planet.
