Senior scientist at RISE and affiliate professor at the Department of Applied Physical Chemistry, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. Broad experience of international research, as well as extensive experience from pharmaceutical industry as scientific expert and project leader. Specialist in material science, solid state investigations and structure informatics. Experience also cover pro-active and general problem solving, in areas such as crystallization, material design and photovoltaics. Long experience with combining experimental and in silico approaches, in order to resolve scientific problems and to pinpoint innovative solutions. Currently, working with robotized screening in projects connected to sustainable energy resources, i.e. solar cells, batteries and LEDs.
A fast transition towards the use of clean and green energy sources requires accelerated discovery of new sustainable energy and energy storage materials. In this concept automation and robotics can play a key role. Therefore we initiated the development a robotized platform, Poseidon, for the screening/discovery of new candidate materials with special focus for batteries and solar cells. We have so far successfully presented proof of principle studies of the platform capabilities. Within the solar cell area we have utilized the robotic screening for discovery of novel less toxic materials for perovskite solar cells and also developed a unique robotized solar cell characterization workflow. We have successfully demonstrated the function the robotized screening platform for a complete and robust screening procedure of battery electrolyte systems from mixing to device performance characterization. The project focus on water-based electrolytes which are much more environmentally friendly than the currently used hazardous systems. To accelerate the progress in Li-ion battery recycling we are currently also planning to implement a screening workflow for water-based reconditioning conditions for electrode remanufacturing processes.
