Kontakta SubimalGreenWave 2 produces sustainable graphite from Nordic biomass using energy-efficient microwave heating. This fossil-free solution supports battery makers, clean tech, and policymakers in building resilient, low-emission, European supply chains for lithium-ion batteries.
Graphite is a critical material for electric vehicles and green energy storage—but today, most of it is produced through environmentally harmful or fossil-based methods. GreenWave 2 aims to change that by creating sustainable graphite from renewable Nordic biomass, advancing Europe's path toward climate neutrality and supply chain resilience.
GreenWave 2 is an innovation-driven project focused on developing a clean, energy-efficient process to produce graphite from biomass side streams from the pulp and paper industry. Instead of mining or fossil synthesis, we apply microwave rapid heating to carbon-rich biomass, transforming it into high-quality graphite anodes suitable for lithium-ion batteries.
