A joint innovation by Ligna, Altris, RISE, and Jemac—designed and manufactured in Sweden.
Ligna is leading the development of the world’s first ultrathin sodium-ion battery in close collaboration with Altris, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and Jemac Sweden AB. This project unites breakthrough sodium-ion chemistry, advanced roll-to-roll thin-cell manufacturing, expert hardware integration, and rigorous testing and validation.
The result is a sustainable, high-performance energy solution engineered for the next wave of connected devices, wearables, and IoT systems. Supported by Vinnova, this initiative is accelerating the transition from concept to commercial production—strengthening European battery innovation and enabling a new generation of safe, scalable, cost-efficient energy storage.
