Workshop: Towards a PFAS-free and circular industry
POPFREE Industry organises a 2-day workshop on the 20th - 21st of September to discuss the prerequisites, obstacles, and opportunities for a potential phase-out of PFAS chemicals in products and processes, relevant for industrial and commercial businesses in Sweden.
PFAS affects many actors in several sectors and in different parts of the value chain and the life cycle, and we now have the opportunity to form a Competence Centre that addresses identified challenges.
We currently have an ongoing planning project with 22 partners funded by Vinnova, Sweden’s Innovation Agency, within the Sustainable Industry program. The project aims to put together a strong consortium with a concrete plan, that addresses identified needs from the industry, to enable a phase-out of PFAS. An application for a Competence Centre will be submitted in March 2023.
To the workshop, we invite both partners in the planning project and other actors who are interested and willing to work towards phasing out PFAS. We plan for a fruitful discussion about what research, innovation and concrete activities are needed to enable a phase-out. The aim of the workshop is to lay the foundation for a joint action plan with activities that could potentially be included in a future Competence Centre for a sustainable PFAS-free and circular industry.
Representatives who cover different aspects of PFAS uses and functions are welcome and you can contribute during the workshop without being an expert on either PFAS or chemicals as all different perspectives are important.
If your company or organization is interested in being part of a Competence Centre and collaborating with other actors on phasing out PFAS, contact Lisa Skedung and/or Tonie Wickman below for dialogue about participation in the workshop.
