Research areas: Manure handling, environment impact and plant nutrient utilisation.
Special interests: 1) Ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions from storage and after spreading of manure and other organic residues, 2) Impact of spreading technology on plant nutrient utilisation and hygienic fodder quality, 3) Economical model for manure handling, system optimisation.
Lena Rodhe has more than 35 years experience of research in the field of manure handling. She is a partner in international networks like FAO (Network on Recycling of Agricultural, Municipal and Industrial Residues in Agriculture), European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng) och EAGER (European Agricultural Gaseous Emissions inventory Researchers network) as well as the Nordic agriculture society (NJF). Delegate of the Royal Forest and Agriculture Academy (KSLA) 2017. She participates in several EU Interreg-projects aiming to reduce nutrient leakage to the Baltic Sea, e.g. Baltic Slurry acidification and Manure Standards. Expert in greenhouse gas emissions from storing and spreading of manure. Consulted as speaker by national boards and advisory services as well as farmers organisations. Reviewer of research applications to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as well as reviewer for several scientific journals. She has published about 50 scientific journals, about half of them in peer-viewed journals.
