Water with REwater: Safe Wastewater Reuse for Agriculture

Water with REwater is a preparatory research project exploring how treated wastewater can be safely reused for irrigation in Swedish agriculture. The project addresses water scarcity in drought-prone regions focusing on reduced chemical pollution and support of circular water management.

Our goals:

  • Build a collaborative platform for farmers, wastewater utilities, regulators, and technology providers.
  • Map wastewater treatment plants and potential agricultural users in southern and southwestern Sweden.
  • Develop strategies and policy recommendations for safe water reuse.

This project contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production.
