Visualisation of information remains a relevant challenge in a society that is transforming digitally at an increasing pace and pushing the limits of autonomy in systems. This continued demand for visualization, however, builds on the same underlying needs as always:
These needs and eventual visualisations take a corresponding form in AR, VR and Metaverse applications where more immersive and interactive technologies are employed. At the same time, new challenges and opportunities come up which deal with social aspects of interaction as well as technical solutions that enable such immersive experiences.
Our focus is on developing XR visualizations to facilitate decision and policy making. Employ interactive and immersive technologies in scenarios for training and education, both in industry and traditional learning environments. However, monitoring and control in specialized applications is an equally interesting and relevant area where concepts like social and spatial presence play a role. We have a keen research interest in automating the 3D creation pipeline, and how game engine technologies could be exploited to push further development.
